20th Century Design: Week 9 Complete

8 years

Week nine of 20th Century Design is complete.

This week we examined Scandinavian design in the 20th century. What I particularly liked about this, was learning about the different designers (such as Eero Saarinen, Erik Gunnar Asplund and Alvar Aalto) as well as examining the designs of Eero Aarnio, particularly his Ball Chair (1963), Pastil Chair (1968), and Bubble Chair (1968). Lastly we looked at IKEA and how it’s commitment to functional, affordable, ‘good design’ has stayed very similar to it’s principals in the 20th century.

My major assessment, a research essay is due on 1 February, 2016 or week 11. I plan to start dedicating a lot of time to completing this next week. I should have started earlier, but was distracted by my computer crashing and an ill cat. Thankfully, I do have a lot of ideas on how I will write it and all the information needed. 😀
