Design Studio: Concepts and Narratives, Week 12 Complete

7 years

Week 12 of Design Studio: Concepts and Narratives is complete. In week 12 we created our final animation that we had been constructing through weeks 10 to 12. It was really wonderful to be able to see the early idea come to life and use cut paper to translate that story.

Throughout week 12 I developed a greater understanding of generating a storyboard, looking at timing and the creation of an animation with cut paper. It was very time consuming cutting out all the pieces and taking a photograph as for each scene and small movement. I found challenges in trying to make sure the lighting was effective, but eventually found I was able to adjust settings on my camera and have two bright lights that made sure everything was illuminated as best I could. I found a lot of fun in compiling the animation together in iMove and incorporating the music and sound effects. In the end of this week it was really great to be able to learn to create an animation and translate a story into a visual form.

This also marks the final week of the unit. I have learned so much, and developed many new insights into design and myself as a designer. I will write up a full recap of my experiences throughout the unit next week.
