Blog Matter

11 years

Good news, I have finally opened my project I have been working on, Blog Matter. If you’re a blogger and are looking to gain a little bit more exposure or discover new blogs, Blog Matter can hopefully help you. What does the site do exactly? The main concept of the website is that it is a comment exchange. You sign up and once a week receive an email with blogs to comment as well as bloggers that will comment on your website. I was an active member of similar concepts like this around 2006 and was disappointed that nothing like it popped up again (or that I could find anyway).

I couldn’t have created the website by myself, so I have to thank Claire, Nicole and Tess for being so awesome. 😀 A special mention should also be given to Alice, Claire, Dismey, Evelyn, Kalliste, Kate, Liz, Nicole and Silver who helped pick the name of the website. Thank you!

  1. Honestly, I was so happy and excited when I heard about the project. I feel like we really needed something like this in the blogging community. Not only will it give bloggers incentive to blog and remain active, it will also enable friendships to be made and ‘hidden gems’ to gain more exposure. 🙂 Love you!

  2. I joined! and then I killed wordpress and it got stuck in maintenance mode.. 😛 fortunately I fixed it before anyone got a chance to check my submission 😀

I’m really excited to see how this goes. Let me know if you need any additional help with it 🙂

    1. Oh no! Thankfully you were able to fix WordPress as well, that would have been a bit eeek. Thanks so much for the offer, I will let you know if I do. ^_^

  3. Yes, Blog Matter is awesome, Kya. We definitely needed a community like this. It has been too long. Excellent job to you and all those who helped you create it.

By the way, I laugh evilly inside every time I see the name Blog Matter. Yes, it is precious. And I actually don’t laugh evilly every time, but it does happen on occasion.

    1. I could not have done it without the awesome team involved. 😉

Oh yes. I think maybe there was some evilery involved haha. How many votes did you REALLY put in?? 😉

  4. Love this concept! Currently I have all my favorite blogs in my Feedly but since I get well over 500 new articles a day (that’s what happens when you follow the Wall Street Journal…) it’s always hard to filter out the entries I want to comment on. I’ll definitely be joining Blog Matter 🙂

  5. I heard about this through Christa! I wasn’t sure who was going to run it or what. It sounds like an amazing idea though and I may just have to join it to see!

It was a pretty good deal. Usually those jackets run about $79 to $100 (especially on The sale price was listed as $29.99 so I thought it was going to be $30.00. Which wasn’t that bad of a price mind you. However, when I got to the register the lady rung it up and it was only $19.99. So not bad for going on a Saturday after Black Friday! I thought I would hate going out those days, but it wasn’t that bad, like I had thought it would be. I got my glasses ON Black Friday, and my jacket on Saturday. My Grandma got some really good deals when she went out. $20.00 for boots that normally run about $60.00. Not bad huh? So she ended up getting four for all her grandchildren (not me though – she’s not really my grandma – she’s my boyfriend’s grandma – but I am part of the family). So not bad. I’m gonna try like mad to get you a Christmas card this year! If not would you settle for a digital card? The stamps runs about $1.25 to get to your country. :/ . *sigh*. But I will try my hardest to get you one!!! If not – next year or for your birthday!

  6. Oh my god this is brilliant! How do you manage to come up with all these brilliant ideas for websites?? I’m signing up right now.

I think it’s fantastic. A great way to keep the blogosphere alive. 🙂

Wow, you have an iPod gen 1?! It’s crazy looking at the new iPods… all these dinky touch screens and the like. I like having a clicker myself.

    Take care! xx

    1. I can’t really take credit at all for the idea, but I wanted to take something that was great and provide it for people in a kind of new/fresh way. 😀

I hope that many people will enjoy it. 🙂

  7. I’m so glad it’s up and I just joined! I was looking for something like that as well and it’s really amazing what I have seen in blogmatter so far. I love the name (bias) bwaha and now I can’t imagine any name besides it.

Speaking of nostalgia, does anyone remember graymatter? XD

  8. This project seems to have a really good concept, and it’s definitely going to be useful to have. Plus the site looks GORGEOUS, definitely going to be looking into this!

  9. thanks for sharing this.. it now makes me wanna join too.. Theres a similar one around 2005 where they give you a list of blogs you should visit and comment.. lol idk what happened to it now..

im so excited for this project..

    1. That was probably 😀 I was a member of it, and it was the inspiration behind the website itself. Unfortunately despair is offline at the moment and I am not sure if it will be back. I hope that it will, so there can be more options for bloggers!

  10. I just sent the join form too. Very nice idea, there was something similar on a Facebook group some year ago, but I left, because there were so many blogs there that I had nothing to say about, you know like fashion blogs. I saw that all blogs on this site are personal blogs. Good stuff.

    1. I had no idea that there was anything like that on Facebook! Which is rather interesting. I can imagine that it would get a bit crazy, but I guess it’s good for people who are in that type of category. 🙂

Hopefully Blog Matter might be something that suits you more. 😀

  11. I would have loved this when I first started blogging! But now, I am a bit hesitant to join because I don’t comment as frequently as I used to and often find myself deciding that I have no comment to write. I shall lurk around Blogmatter and see how it does, though! I hope that the project becomes successful.

    1. You can only do what is right for you. I can completely understand what you mean, not everyone wants to make comments all over the place, or even get them either. You are always welcome to join in the future if you feel more comfortable. 😀

  12. Hi Kya. I am so sorry for not returning comments immediately. I have been busy with the university that I think will go through until February (my graduation).

Anyway, I want you to know that I already have scanned the Blog Matter website and I am so thrilled with the idea. I wanna join but not too soon. I wanna be committed with it so maybe when I am not so busy anymore. I hope to enjoy the fun. :>
