Another month has rolled around and I would like to recap my life as it was, through August 2016.
During August I was pretty busy with study and found the time to design my own WordPress theme. It was something I had been wanting to do for a long time (and was also on my 30 before 30). I also made two prompt websites; Artprompt.xyz and Blogprompt.xyz. It was really wonderful to rekindle my interest in website design. I think my study has actually influenced me, because I am examining a lot of typography and layout spreads. I wanted to have some freedom to create something in my own style.
Speaking of study, I have been getting marks in the 80s and I am continually working hard to try and improve. I have only been getting good feedback, so I am not sure if my teacher is a strict marker or I have really been missing things… 🐢
I read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and I liked it. Yes, there are many parts of it that are…. noodle… but it was actually completely different to what I thought it would be. It made me feel like I was revisiting an old friend. Although, maybe in a sense like; I was visiting said friend/s and I had new glasses, and the glasses where I bit too strong, but I knew it was a friend…. 🤓
I have always been experimenting with traditional art and it has been a challenge. I just need to take it slow and to actually learn how to create and work with certain mediums, instead of expecting to be able to create super amazing artworks without knowing how… 😣 I have also been incredibly slack with taking photos and I am hoping throughout September I can find the time to explore and snap. 🦋

August was a really long and tough month for me but I’m hoping that September is more hopeful. I couldn’t have gotten through August without my dear husband and all the awesome kind words and support from friends like you <3
The prompt websites are really fun. I'm so glad that you made them. I'll have to show you some of the art I've made from the art prompts. And congrats on designing your own WordPress theme. I did it for the longest time but started appreciating other people's design skills and started purchasing a few good ones.
Maybe your professor is a really tough grader. If you feel like you're not getting the grades you deserve or you're curious as to why you're grades aren't higher, it wouldn't hurt to pop your prof an email with a few questions. 80's are still really good though. Super proud of you!
Maybe a new site idea/addition could be displaying the artworks made from the prompts ^_^
I would absolutely love to see what you have created from the prompts! <3
It's a really good idea to contact them, because I really won't know otherwise!
My laptop broke in August ?? I also skipped my phone bill to get a new phone and on a new plan. I loves it all the more tbh. Music doesn’t use up data. ??
Oh crap. Stupid memory. ?
I like your prompt sites. I considered one in July, but feel the last thing I need is another project. ? But I’m wanting to share flash fiction on my blog in the next couple of months and wish there was a generator for this sort of fiction, but there is not. ?? There are writing topic generators but they all kinda suck tbh.
Good luck with your schoolwork. I like the designs I’ve seen you make lately. ✌
You need a prompt for all the fiction. 😀 You might have to make one. ~u~
Nice job on the theme! 🙂 !!! And I like your blog prompt.
August was fun. Now I’m back to work. I’m also waiting for the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to arrive so I can read it.
🙂
Thank you! 😀
I love your WordPress theme because I too am really into topography lately. It’s strange. Maybe we’re growing up! Ha.
I really dig your prompt websites because I do need inspiration here and there. I might have to find a place to link to them somewhere on my little site.
Have you asked your teacher about your grades? Like, what you can do to improve or what they think you’re missing. Maybe they have some insight into why you’re trying so hard, but it seems like you’re just spinning your wheels, getting nowhere!! I had to ask my professor for help because I kept missing some core concepts for my class. I feel like an idiot because I can build a site, I can be a mommy, and do all this other stuff, but can’t figure out the difference between contradictory and equivalent? The only saving grace is a bunch of other students are having similar issues so maybe the problem lies with my professor.
At any rate, I can’t believe September is here. I feel like the year just whizzed on by and it’s not cool, man. 🙂 <3 Have a beautiful weekend and be sure to communicate with your teacher. Communication is very, very important and they are there to help after all!!!
It is a really good idea to contract my teacher and see if there are ways I can improve, or if I am missing something. Otherwise you just don’t know.
I want to be able to create my own WordPress themes but I haven’t had the time to learn this year. I think it’ll take me a long time to grasp the coding, because I haven’t coded anything properly in years now. Your theme looks amazing, by the way. I love the colours you’ve picked!
I’ve been reading The Cursed Child too. I’m currently half-way through, but I’ll probably end up finishing it today! I love it so far. Part of me was sad because they’ve crushed my dreams by changing the ending of the last book, but I love the wizarding world enough to ignore that. Hopefully it ends well too!
I’ve not really done anything exciting in August. I’ve spent way too much money though! In September I hope to get organised again – I’m so behind on everything!
Thank you! 😀
I hope you enjoyed reading The Cursed Child. It can be kind of complicated and bring out a lot of thoughts and feelings because it is very different to that of the original books.
Oh, wow! I didn’t know you made the blog prompt site! I’ll have to use that if I’m ever stumped for blogging!
I’m glad to hear you’re doing well with your studies. With you getting good feedback, nothing’s wrong with that, but if you want, you could ask for suggestions on ways to improve your work?
I hope you’ll have a good September, Kya~!
Thanks. 😀 Hopefully it can help for inspiration.
I plan to contact my teacher and see where I can improve to have a higher grade.
Oooh I sometimes feel like all university teachers are strict markers. Sometimes I wondered why I ‘only got 80’ when I got nothing but good comments. But I think they just make it really hard to get a high distinction (over 85) – if your uni follows that marking scheme. 😉 So I’m sure you are doing great, but I guess the teachers are there for your support… you can always ask them what you can do to get higher marks and where you were missing out, I am sure they will be willing to help. 🙂
Sometimes I feel the same when I learn something – I feel like I am trying to get to the finish line before even taking small steps. I am trying to learn JavaScript at the moment and doing it little by little, which is much better for me. 🙂
Thankfully my school grades anything over 80 with a high distinction, so I have managed to continue to have those (phew). It is just a big difference to the other classes where I was getting scores in the 90/95 range. I will have to contact them and find out the dealio. ;D
Eeee. JavaScript looks like it would be difficult. But I know that you can and will do it. 😀
Seems like you had a really interesting month. I am glad that you started designing websites again. Of course your studies influence they way you think now, but it’s a good thinng. It means you’re evolving.
Good luck with your mark.
What did you do in August?
I volunteered the whole month in a project where twenty medical school students form other countries visited Romania and I stayed with them showing them around Bucharest. I went home for a week to visit my parents. And I worked hard on my website, because until school starts again I want to have everything in place.
Have any plans for September?
My plans for September are to study to improve my grades, continue working on my website and I think that’s all. Studying will take a lot of time, almost the whole month. After that I guess I will just organize myself for the next school year which starts on October 3rd.
What was the last book you read?
I am ashamed to say that I don’t remember. I planned on doing some reading this summer but I just didn’t found the time. Does medical books count, cause I am reading plenty of those.
Take care <3
Thanks. Hope you have a good September. 😀
WHAT these prompt generators are AMAZING! Seriously, so useful. I’m bookmarking the blog one immediately!
Whenever I get a little stressed out about whether the art/design I’m producing is any good, I always take a step back and remember what my Super Amazingly Talented Artist Friend says about it – she always says, “just doodle.” Just doodle – takes the pressure off and makes it fun again!
Also getting in the 80s for marks seems pretty good to me… but good luck if you want them to be better, I’m sure you can do it!
Thank you. 😀 I hope they will be useful!
Doodling and sketching is a really good exercise. My teachers always suggest doing fast sketches before under taking each project, because it can allow you to quickly express different ideas. It’s also great for creative projects or just to make something cute.
I have thoughts about HPatCC, and to sum them up I’d say I really enjoyed reading it, then disliked it the more I thought about it.
It’s great, but I think I’ll prefer it performed.
I have questions, who holds the power of the elder wand now Harry was disarmed. And who assume Voldemort had either a penis or a sex drive. The man was an evil ken doll.
On the plus side, Scorpius! Also Albus/Scorpius.
Love the new layout, it’s wondrous!
Hahaha. Yes. I think you’re right. The more you think about it, the more questions and conflict you have. The less you think about it, the easier it is to… accept.
Hahaha. Voldy and his wand. I am sure he had one. ~u~
it’s great that your love for web designing as rekindled (: I hope I can keep up and drop by more often ^^;
august flew by I barely remember what I did. attempt to pull myself out of a rut I guess. and mostly playing an app game called township (it’s something like farmville but much more)
honestly, I don’t really know what my plans are. I think I’m still trying to figure out things.
and I think I’m still in the middle of re-reading “the joy luck club” by amy tan for the umpteenth time XD
it’s really cool that you made sites for prompts. I’m sure it would be useful for those who are stumped (:
and hello kya! I’ve missed you (:
😀 Ello!
The Joy Luck Club is amazing.
I have missed you as well. I think it’s really awesome, that after so many years that we still have some form of contact and that your blog is still there!
It is awesome to hear that your study has influence you to create some awesome stuff. Education is important and can take you far :). Keep on working hard to improve yourself! There were a lot of times when I got a lower grade than expected, and the professor was just a harsh grader… D:
I’ve heard a lot of mixed things about HP and the Cursed Child. Hope the movie won’t be a let down!
I think you’ll eventually find that magic click where you know a good posture for traditional art. I mostly worked during August, but I’m looking forward to my new job this month!
Hope it all goes well. 😀
Besides my birthday in August? Hell! Hellish! You get it. This year and summer have been the hardest as I grapple with my mental illness. It sucks. I’m just going to school during September.
I’m still holding out on reading The Cursed Child because I think the epilogue to The Deathly Hallows was complete rubbish. I just wished Rowlings didn’t add it as it felt fanfictiony and now this new book adds more to it, and it’s in the form of a play that America will never see? I’m passing. I’m done with Harry Potter now and I think forever, too.
That’s great that you were productive with your websites in August 🙂 I have a few sites that need updates, and I keep procrastinating on it.
I’m glad you’re getting good feedback in your studies! Though that’s odd that your teacher is still only giving marks in the 80s. Like Tara said, it might be a good idea to ask why and how to improve from there.
I’ve been getting back into traditional art too. Right now, I want to improve on watercolor pencils. They’re not quite watercolor paints and not quite color pencils, so they’re still weird to me.
I spent half of August on vacation and the other half catching-up from vacation, haha. I hope to work on art, cosplay, and photography more in September!
I agree with you about watercolour pencils. I have some that I use, and the quality is not really that great. I am thinking I might invest in some paints and good paper. 😀
Okay I love your idea for the Art Prompt and Blog Prompt websites. I’ll have to use them! And you released them at the perfect time too: I’m on a blogging slump again!
Kudos to you for having such a productive month 😀
My August was composed of both high and lows. But I’m positive September will be better.
Woo. Hope they will help. 😀
I hope your September will be positive. :*3
