My computer arrived a few days ago and I have been madly installing everything I need on it and getting used to the big screen again and the difference in colour. I really love it and am very happy with how it’s going at the moment. The only bummer was it didn’t come with PowerDVD. I was going to buy the new version but Dad had a copy, so that worked out well. I uploaded all of the photos I had taken on my new camera (which was around 500 images) and when I realised it was over 1gb I laughed nervously thinking how quickly my hard drive will fill up and how sweet the idea of an external hard drive sounds. But after I did get a pile of new goodies I don’t want to be squealing out for other things as well, at least not right now. 😉
I had a idea hit me today. Like it was whispered into my ear and I know it’s something I should have done a long time ago. I was swooping files between computers and out of the blue I had this sudden erg or snap of a thought “I should get a book of my poetry published”. Not one that would be sold or on a market value but something for my family and friends that I could give away to those that were interested. I wouldn’t have to go to a publisher or spend a huge fortune, LuLu is a fantastic self publishing company that I believe will suit my needs perfectly. The idea of this endeavour is really to give myself more confidence and be able to see myself in print and share it with those in my circle. Poetry is something that comes very naturally to me and I literally have hundreds of poems on my computer and scattered around my room. It may be a challenge to find the right poems to place in the book and work out how they are ordered, but it will be enjoyable and certainly a big learning experience.
I have started watching Big Brother again. I don’t know why I feel dirty for admitting that, and now I must leave because it starts in two minutes.

I like the sound of self-publishing. Sounds like it would be really great for you. Having something tangible to refer to is great, it also is like you have something to show for your natural talents! good luck with it!
I would love to make books of things like poems and stories. It seems like a wonderful idea indeed! To bad mothers day is so soon or I’d suggest you make a special one for your mom.
EEEEEXCITING new computer!! 😀 And with a big juicy screen and clean space and lots of time and opportunities to dance around and do things quickly. 🙂 I’m so excited for you, it’s probably unhealthy!
You publishing a book of poetry will be a-m-a-z-i-n-g. I’m afriad I might have to ask you for one if you end up doing it. :O I adore the way you write in such a flowing and restless way sometimes, it will fit perfectly into a self-published, private but also sharing book. What a perfect idea. :*) I feel like it’s something that has been waiting its turn, to be done, for a long time.
HAH. I always feeel guilty for watching BB. Hence why… I don’t watch it anymore! (Plus, in the U.K. it is actually genuinely awful, and just a lonely, desperate grab for 3 seconds fame) But from a psychologists point of view…
Love you. 😀
Yay for your new computer, new goodies are fun. That’s a great idea, to publish your work. You’re right, it gives you more confidence and credibility as a writer.
That’s such a good idea… yes, have a book of poetry published!! Nowadays, you hardly need to get it “pre-approved” before you want to publish something. You can even order an “album” of your poems. I think that’s a really good idea ^_^
Congrats on getting everything back up
A new computer! So jealous. Yes, can’t live without PowerDVD and its screencapping capabilities.
I use an external harddrive. If I didn’t, I would have no room left on my computer!
Good luck with the publishing. Lulu is great for that sort of thing. If I had a talent for any sort of writing, I would definitely go that route first. Since it’s so, so hard to get published and Lulu makes it easy.
I think that getting your poems published is a wonderful idea! If you do end up doing it, I think you should have them available on your site, so your readers can purchase one. 🙂 You’d probably get more business than you think. 😉
Good luck on publishing your poetry 🙂 and congrats on the new cpu…I think external hard-drives are the next best thing to sliced bread…^_~ good luck on the files swaps and hope you get more memory for em all soon!
Congrats on the new computer. There’s almost nothing better than a new computer, huh! I remember when I got mine, I was so completely thrilled.
You should get a book published. I love poetry. Maybe I’d be interested. 😛
A new computer? That must be pretty amazing, I’m jealous of course because I’ve yearned for a new computer for the longest. Mine is so slow, and space deteriorates on a daily. I’d be ultra grateful for a new one.
Publishing a poetry book? I’d definitely want a copy. I love poetry, and if I sound like a nerd, I love analyzing them as well. It’s one of my favorite things to do in English class. I write, occasionally and was thinking of getting back into the habit of doing again, it all comes of inspiration though.
(Aha, I could not find the form! It was at top, hiding from me. :D)
Shinnyyy new computer! I had trouble in late-2006, because my sister and I are both insane addicts with the computer, and we were sharing – at Christmas though, my Dad got me my own, and it IS a dream, especially when it runs a lot more smoothly than past computers. *pets them* I love the feeling of ‘This is mine – and it isn’t complete crap!’
And I think that that is definitely a good idea. Like Raine, I might have to have a copy. I LOVE poetry, and since I can’t read it, I let others do it for me? I think they would be a lot more creative with it anyways. 😉
