November 2017

November 2017

6 years

It has been a busy and exciting month in November 2017. I started working on my third children’s book and changed universities to study Graphic Design/Photography.

πŸ“š Writing A Book

I have been hard at work on my third children’s book. This time I have been documenting my process on my blog! You can view the posts with the tag #writing-a-childrens-book (some of the posts are very large because I like detail 🀣).

The story is centred around 20 different careers that girls can conquer. The first book (in what will be a series) focusses on creative fields. I hope that it is a way to inspire girls that they can become many different things, not just occupations that are labelled as ‘traditional’ roles for women.

Initially, I expected I would have the book completed in December. However, it appears that January may be more likely. I am not trying to rush because I want to make the best book I can.

πŸŽ“ University Changes

I was accepted into CSU to study a Bachelor of Creative Arts and Design with a double major in Graphic Design and Photography. I am very excited about this and can’t wait to begin in February.

I was previously studying Communication Design with Swinburne Online. I decided that I wanted to explore a degree that was in line with my interests and goals. I honestly feel like this is the right choice.  😍

  1. I can’t wait to see your new book! And yes to not rushing. Take your time in perfecting this book ^^ I love how the first one will be about jobs in the creative fields.

Congrats on the new uni! I think this degree will be a much better fit for you. You will rock this programme!

I am curious at what blog changes you are considering, so I look forward to seeing what you do. And I can’t wait to see your new pup! Have a good December!

  2. Good luck with getting your book done! And good luck with your new class. I feel you with having trouble connecting to people. I have a hard time too! And yay for a dog! Can’t wait to see what kind you get!

  3. Congratulations on getting accepted into CSU! It’s great that you’re doing everything you can to shift focus to something you actually want to explore your career interests in.

It’s great that you’ve been trying to make an effort to connect with people. It helps you create relationships in the long run and make something deeper than just knowing who they are on the surface. Hope you’ll find a puppy you like!

  4. Makes sense to take your time with your book! You’ve been in so much hard work, and I’m really excited to see the results later. And congrats on being accepted into CSU and with the double major that you wanted! That’s amazing news! I hope the new degree works out for you!

I’m starting to get ready for the holiday season, too, by deciding what to get people and am starting on my holiday cards. I’ve bought a few things already, but there’s so many family members I need to buy for! That’s also exciting that your parents are letting you get a dog. I love dogs! (Also, that’s amazing that that kangaroo was just in your backyard!)

  5. Congrats on being accepted into CSU! I also changed my major multiple times, and finally ended up in a career where I’m SO happy. Even though it cost me extra time and money, it was worth it to find something I’m truly passionate about!

And YAY on the puppers news! Can’t wait to see some pics of whatever lucky pup you choose. Also love the fact that you’re adopting!

I’ve been ready for the holiday season since about July haha. I LOVE this time of year! December will be spend in full holiday mode, and soaking up every moment of it!

  6. Loved the positivity in this post Kya! I’m so glad that you’re doing so well with writing your book and academia – go girl go!!

I’m excited to hear about your blog changes – it’s always nice to have a refreshing change sometimes πŸ™‚ I love how you’re wanting to connect with people – it’s easy to get so caught up with things and forget to go out and make those connections, but it’s so awesome that you’re mindful of this and doing it! :luv:

  7. Congrats on your acceptance to CSU!

I hope you do well in connecting with other people! I find it difficult, too, because I’m absentminded like that (among other things).

I enjoy reading about your children’s book process! I love details and BTS stuff. :luv:

  8. I’m actually planning on rading your children’s book posts next, and am looking forward to them! I think it’s awesome it’s your third one. I dreamed of being an author when I was a child and I don’t think I’ll ever be one in the traditional sense that I originally wanted (writing a fictional novel), I think someday it could be fun trying my hand at illustrating one. We’ll see! I’m sure your posts will give me a better idea of if its something I’d want to do.

Congratulations on the university change! That’s so exciting, and I’m glad you’re doing something that aligns more with your interests. I hope it ends up being everything you wanted and more!

AHHHH NEW DOGGO! We got a new pup this summer after my two senior dogs passed away and honestly, it’s the best thing ever. They’re a lot of work at times but the amount of love they give you is just irreplacable. My life is a whole lot happier with my fur baby around. I hope you tell us all about your new doggo once you adopt him/her!

My November was mostly boring, but after the hecticness of the months prior (which I recently recapped on my blog since I was mostly MIA) I enjoyed the lack of things going on. And I am ready for the holiday season, sure! It’s mostly been laid back so far but I like it. My mom has gone really over the top with the Christmas decorations this year and baking cookies and I’ve enjoyed helping her with them (though I whine during just to give her a hard time). It’s all been good! πŸ™‚
