My November 2016

7 years

Wow, hard to believe that this year is almost over.ย  ๐Ÿ˜ฎ November was a pretty good month for me. I started my fourthย Uni class, released my second book and amย slowly making progress in my mum’s work room renovation.

My next University class is focussed on digital design, a subject that is very near and dear to my heart. I am taking the time to try and learn as much as I can about Adobe Illustrator and working with different tools and methods to produce a variety of designs. There is always a lot more to learn. I hope to have a post next week, where I talk about my digital design journey (and share some of my noodly early creations hahaย  ๐Ÿ˜†).

In case you missed it, I realised my second book, Peaty the Worm. It was a lot of fun to make this book. Blurb recently had a 50% off deal, so I ordered 10 copies of the print version. They will make good gifts for friends with little ones. I would also like to donate a copy to my local school and possibly the library (if they want or accept them). It looks like a November unveiling of a book is starting to be a habit (my first book was Tom and Geraldene, November 2015). It would be great to do a book each year, hopefully I can keep at it!

Lastly, I attempted to take part in NaNoWriMo this year. I didn’t win, but I did write more than I have in a long time. I ended up with about 7k words, which is huge for me. It was the first time I have ever written anything, where I was able to stick to a plotline and go along for the ride. The writing may not be the best thing in the world, but I can always go back and improve it later. I don’t have any plans of sharing what I wrote, because… noodles.ย ย ๐ŸŒ

I hope everyone has a great December and end to 2016!

Questions:
  • What did you do in November?
  • What are your plans for December?
  • Did you do NaNoWrimo, or any writing recently?

  1. aww good luck on your digital design class. i remember when during my college days, first and second semester were all about manual art and i couldn’t score very good marks. and then third semester came and i finally took classes based on my streaming which is interactive digital media which was the era where my GPA started becoming better, ha. digital design all the waaay woop woop! can’t wait for you to try adobe indesign out too – especially using it to design and publish e-magazine/book! hopefully you’ll get to experience it ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. well, nothing much. i finally graduated with a bachelor of art degree but that’s all there is. it was a pretty shitty month ^^;;

    2. hm, not sure. i don’t really plan anything yet. maybe look for a job? i don’t know. i don’t have things figured out right now.

    3. it’s been yeeeears ever since i wrote something. i used to write a lot and was about to participate nanowrimo but eh, never end up doing it. i’m so lazy to write now, even though i can still do creative writing if i really put my heart into it.

    1. I have been using InDesign to put together documents for the class and I really like it a lot. ๐Ÿ˜€

Congratulations on graduations. I hope you have a better month in December and a great year in 2017!

  2. I still think Peaty is the CUTEST ever. <3

I'm happy to hear your month was very nice and I love that you are releasing books in November. It's my birthday month AND it's always nice to have a season where you're most inspired. I tend to do more creative things in the spring.

I hope the rest of the year is just as productive and that you enjoy your next class!

  3. Yup. Time sure flied by.

You’re going to have fun with Adobe Illustrator. I used it for my Digital Arts class. I created a project where I drew two characters with a city background. I downloaded a picture of my character and drew over it. I’m sure your a great at drawing.

    1. What did you do in November? I did 3 projects for my major classes.
    2. What are your plans for December? Do the 3 final projects and 1 final exam. Relax until the spring semester starts in January.
    3. Did you do NaNoWrimo, or any writing recently? I did reflections and reading journals for my classes.

  4. ^~^ I am really looking forward to hearing about your design class.. I agree that there is always more to learn, which is one reason I love it <3

I'm sure your local school/library would LOVE your book. I skimmed through it on your post about it and it's well written and aesthetically on point!

& Thank you for your comment. Everyone wants a *cute* little diary themed website at some point or another, right? Hahaha ^o^'

Happy December (*~*)o I wish you the same!
    Noodles ๐Ÿ˜€ <3

  5. This year has gone crazy quick! :O I still can’t believe it’s the final month of the year already.

That digital class sounds awesome. I’m sure you’ll be an expert at it seeing the work you’ve done already is amazing and top class ๐Ÿ˜› Keep it up Kya! You inspire us all so much!

  6. nOODLES (capslock).

In all siriusness, I am very proud of you and all that you have accomplished over the last several years. You are inspirational!

  7. Digital design sounds like it’s right up your alley! ๐Ÿ˜€ I can’t wait to see what sort of things you will make from that class.

Yay again for your book. It’s great that there was a good discount!

Kudos to you for also trying NaNoWriMo! Even if you didn’t make that 50k, at least you wrote more than you did before. That’s a lot better than zero.

I hope your December will be well!

    1. Thank you! ๐Ÿ˜€ The first project is to design three paper planes. We do one plane first and the others later. I am mostly happy with the design… n’D

  8. I just realized how cute your emojis are! :strawberry: Your next class sounds exciting! I’m excited to read about your design journey.

Congrats on your two books and also on Nanowrimo. I participated once a few years ago and didn’t even manage 2000 words, haha. Maybe next time I’ll try harder!

  9. I didnโ€™t participate in NaNoWriMo this year, and itโ€™s the first year in about six that I havenโ€™t. Iโ€™m not really sure why either โ€“ I always have stories in my head, but I think as Iโ€™ve grown older, sadly, Iโ€™ve had less of a passion of putting them down on paper. It became more of a chore to write these fictional stories than a hobby. However, I loved doing it in the past and Iโ€™m always a huge supporter of everyone who participates, because itโ€™s no little thing to write 50k in a month! Even though you didnโ€™t hit that 50k, you wrote! And itโ€™s the most youโ€™ve written in a long time! Go kya!

I feel like November just flew by โ€“ I was so busy but I canโ€™t even tell you really what all I got accomplished. I did spend a lot of time with friends and family and got better acclimated to my job, so those are wins! Iโ€™m super looking forward to Christmas! I love this time of the year! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I hope you really enjoy your holidays. ๐Ÿ˜€ It’s great that you had written so much over the years. Sometimes you probably just need a break, especially if it does feel like a chore.

  10. That’s nice that your next class is on digital design! Your digital works are already great, so I can’t wait to see what you learn from it ๐Ÿ™‚ I use Adobe Illustrator now and then for vector designs, but I’m still not very familiar with it.

I hope the library accepts your book donation! That would be amazing for more people to read it. As for NaNoWriMo, I think 50k words is a lotttt. I think that’s great that you got to 7k after not writing for a long time!

I think my November was mostly just work, though I did finish sewing something, and I baked and decorated a two-tier cake. I have more sewing to do in December! Also lots of Christmas shopping! I’ve never done NaNoWriMo, but writing has never really been my thing. It’s been a weakness for me, and I don’t know what to write about. I think I prefer more visual hobbies!

    1. Visual hobbies can be so wonderful. ๐Ÿ˜€ We all have our certain hobbies and activities that are more suited to each of us, which is great. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you were able to get all the shopping finished!

  11. I can’t wait to see what you do in your digital design class! ๐Ÿ˜€

What did you do in November?
    – Mostly nothing, yet I was still busy….
What are your plans for December?
    – CHRISTMAS, I’m spending the day with my friend
Did you do NaNoWrimo, or any writing recently?
    – No, I get too bored easily and have no good ideas

  12. Can I begin by admitting that I love the fact that your emoticons are bigger than most people have? It’s like you get a little pop of unexpected happiness whenever you come across one. ๐Ÿ™‚ Anyhow, I am happy to hear that you had a productive, happy November.

What did you do in November? Hm…well, I didn’t move to a new location like I was hoping. I received a new piece of exercise equipment – a stepper, which I kind of adore. Beyond that I did absolutely nothing…oh, did I get my new desktop in November? My memory is horrible.

What are your plans for December? I currently have no plans for December…and I was going to write something else but I forgot what that was. ๐Ÿ˜›

Did you do NaNoWriMo, or any writing recently? Sadly I didn’t do NaNoWriMo – I didn’t get my desktop until the end of the month. As for doing any writing, do blog posts count? If not, then I don’t believe that I have. :'( I need to make this more of a priority TBH.

    1. That was an accident with the emoticons. Somehow when the plugin updated, it made things a little wonky.

Hope you did have a good December.

  13. OMG Kya, I haven’t been here in a while, and your blog’s so cute!!! /crying

November is my birth month, so I pretty much celebrated my 30th birthday all month long! My husband and I travelled a lot, and it’s made my birthday really special. ๐Ÿ™‚

December is my favorite month next to November because we celebrate our wedding anniversary and Christmas during this month! I absolutely love the weather around this time plus the festive vibe, so I always look forward to this time of the year!

  14. Looks like you had a great November. I’m so glad that you’re learning Illustrator. I’ve made a few things using the software (including some header images that I plan to use for my new site theme ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Congratulations on your second book release. I’m sure the little ones will love it.

My November was crazy. I built a game along with some applications for school. I was also able to enjoy some time at home with my family as part of Thanksgiving. It was long month but it was good.

My plans for December involve having a good Christmas, finishing the semester (which has already happened). And doing a couple of other things like learning Ruby (a programming language used in Web Development), building a new theme for Catastrophe Rising, and enjoying some free reading.

I’ve never done NaNoWriMo but I hope to try it at some point. The only writing I’ve been doing is for my blog, unfortunately. I haven’t had a lot of time to do anything else.

    Have a good December!

  15. I’ve done a lot of creative writing lately. I don’t know if I have ever successfully attempted NaNoWriMo though. I’m more of a one off. xD;

I’m so in love with your books and art though! So adorable!

I’m so freaked out the year is almost up, and my baby is another year older! orz;; Haahaa! xD

    1. It would certainly be different, when you have a child, because seeing them grow, you would notice things moving so much faster! That’s great you have been doing writing. ๐Ÿ˜€

  16. Noodles noooOOOOODLES Kya I want noodles now, I havenโ€™t had them in a few weeks! NOOOOODLES.

Iโ€™m very proud of you that you finished and published yet another book. It would be so awesome to see you do another one next year. What an amazing achievement!! ?

Iโ€™m just glad itโ€™s nearly the end of the year. ?
