Hello there, I would like to welcome you to my personal blog, Moonstone. My name is Kassy, and I am a 30-year-old Australian who has an enormous love of design and crafty things.Β πŸ’–β˜ΊοΈ

Moonstone is a personal blog with a focus on documenting my life, sharing creative projects and talking about mental health.

My blog was previously known as Kya under the URL, kya.nu and updated in December 2017 to kassy.blog. I decided that I no longer wanted to use an online alias and finally felt comfortable with the ‘real me‘. 😊

I have imported old posts from kya.nu and hope to continue to connect, comment and share with others in the blogging community.

Some of my social media accounts may have changed. Please view my contact page for my current contact information. 😍 Follow my blog with Bloglovin

  1. Woah. I imagine this feels the same way when I gave up lazily.org. Kya.nu is like an institution πŸ˜€

Good luck with the new direction of the blog πŸ™‚

  2. OMG, what a surprise! And after so many years too! :O πŸ˜€ I love the name, and the layout is amazing! Such a perfect style and colour scheme. What a fun way to start the new year too!

Having an online alias used to be standard practise, but the Internet is different now. I think using your real name is going to be a good thing. πŸ™‚

  3. Hello! It’s going to take some time getting used to [for me, at least], but I’m semi-familiar with your name already, so.~ Maybe it won’t be too bad in that department. XD

I’m glad you finally feel comfortable! I went through similar feelings when deciding to just start going by Jane on my blog, because it’s what I identify with most, and it was quite a freeing feeling. <3

  4. Your new blog looks great! I love the illustrations you drew of yourself! Going from an online alias you’ve been using for years to your real name is a big change, but I think it’s nice to be able to use the same name online and offline πŸ™‚

  5. Aw, congratulations! I was a little confused at first when I saw this pop up in my news feed, but I was excited once I realized who it was. Now it feels like we’re able to formally introduce ourselves. Hello Kassy, my name is Asti! It’s wonderful to meet you. I look forward to continue reading about your life and creative endeavors, and look forward to your mental health posts as well since that is something that I’ve had to work on everyday. <3

  6. It’s so great that you feel comfortable using your real name online now! As others have mentioned, it’s an incredibly difficult thing, but I think it makes your blog and content more appealing; it’s more real.

I love the new look and will continue to follow!

  7. Love the new blog and concept! ^^ I am glad you feel comfortable to use your real name! <3

I look forward to your future blog posts on Moonstone!

  8. Kassy, hi! ☺️ It’s a good feeling when you find a name you identify with, whether it’s your β€œreal” name or not. I haven’t ever used an alias online but I did go by the nickname β€œJazzmo” when I was a teenager because I was a bit rebellious and didn’t like my real name. I chose to go by my real name eventually but now I go by a variation/nickname of my real name, since I feel it’s more β€œme”! πŸ˜„

  9. Love the new name and new look! The design is so cute!

It’s great that you’re more comfortable online now! I never had an online alias, but I always used to keep my personal social media account away from my blog ones and I never used to use my surname on the blog. That changed a couple of years ago, and I’m so much happier with it!

Good luck with everything and Happy New Year!

  10. Hi Kassy! I’m so excited about this update *big hugs*

I’ve updated all your links and am looking forward to posts from you in 2018! Happy New Year!

  11. Welcome Kassy! I saw you on my Instagram and found out you moved! I think that’s wonderful you’re taking up your real name. I remember when I started blogging, everybody used an alias and I felt so exposed with my nickname Liv. I think that you having a set direction for the types of topics you want to write about will also help you shape your identity. πŸ™‚ Moonstone is such a fitting name for you too!

PS. I also moved my domain, from ethetica.net to livperspective.me! Hope to read more from you this year. Happy New Year!

  12. Hello! I love your new blog layout and color scheme… So calming!!! Welcome to the “non-psuedom” world! I switched over a few years back when I came back to the online world, and now I have the opposite problem… I can’t come up with usernames anymore! Hahaha. I’m having difficulty getting the “screennames” to match up because I keep on using different ones all over the places…
Looking forward to being friends in 2018! πŸ™‚

  13. Aww, I’m so proud of you Kassy =)! I can’t wait to see what the new blog and the ‘real you’ have in-store for the new year and new beginning! <3

  14. Happy New Year!

I love the new blog and direction you’re taking things with being the real you. <3

Ps. I'm sorry that you had issues commenting on my blog last week. I've (hopefully) fixed it, seeing as others have been able to leave them. I'm off to update your link right after I post this!

  15. oh my god at first i was like “this blog reminds me of kya.nu” and then OMG YES I’M RIGHT, THIS IS KYA.NU hahaha nice name though btw! the name ‘moonstone’ is cute ♥ congrats on the new space πŸ˜€

  16. I love your new blog and look and I’m so glad you’ve decided to go by your own name.

When I was younger, I too went by an alias but it kind of took over and I actually started to refer my alias over own name, even though I love it. So it was no question that when I reentered the blogging scene that I would use my own name.

    Happy New Year!

  17. Hello, Kassy! It is so nice to finally “officially” meet the real you and I cannot wait to get to know even more about you. I have never used nicknames on blogging or anything like that, mainly because my name is so dang-blasted common…of course, it was trendy when I was born. I honestly love the clean, simple design and I cannot wait to read all of your new posts in 2018.

  18. Hi, Kassy! It’s a pleasure to “meet” you! I’m probably one of those who gushed on Twitter when you suddenly changed your name from Kya to Kassy! I love your name (didn’t I mention that already?)!

P.S. I’m curious as to why you named your blog “Moonstone.” I may have missed it somewhere, but I’d love to know because I only know the name as the gemstone.😊

  19. Hi Kassy, like I mentioned before on Twitter, nice to meet you lol. I know how it’s like to use online aliases. I started off that way too and went with a lot of aliases (Eri was the longest I’ve used). It wasn’t until I joined a small anime/manga community that I finally came out and began using my name (Adri(anne)). And you know what, I never regretted it and I never felt freer than I was before.

Thanks for stopping by both my personal and learning blog, will be sure to come by and visit more often on your new blog too (one of my new 2018 habits lol).

  20. Yeah, I only had to go back to work for 3 days before I get another short break. I’m starting work at my new workplace next week. πŸ˜€

Happy new year to you too!

  21. Hello Kassy!

I love your blog’s design and color~ Especially the instagram pictures below~ :3

Looking forward to read more on your blog!
