Today my blog turns 10 and to celebrate I am holding a stationery giveaway! 🎂
Ten years ago on the 13th of May 2006, a 19 year old me registered the domain kya.nu. In my first blog post, I wrote that it had been a wishlist domain for a while. I think the greatest thing about looking at that first entry is the people who commented, a number of them are still good friends with me today!
Throughout those ten years, there has been tremendous change. I lost loved ones, helped family battle illness, struggled with my own mental health, made friendships, lost friendships, started university, wrote a book and finally within the last few years found positive influences that enabled me to finally see a future for myself. I feel optimistic about what lies ahead and look forward to sharing that journey on my blog.

To celebrate my blog birthday I thought it would be fun to hold a giveaway. Wow! This is amazing Kya, you’re so generous! I can’t believe we both registered our domains within a month of each other! Mine (lazily) was 3rd of April 2006. I’ve been blogging for a lot longer than that though it just wasn’t called blogging back then. I got my first livejournal back in 2001 and around the same time was using greymatter to blog (or journal) and before that did it all by hand with html and css.. and BEFORE THAT all by hand with html only. I don’t miss the days of chmodding files, I can tell you that 😛
I have to say I don’t know if I’ve learnt anything about myself through my blog. My life has changed drastically, that’s for sure, and I think I am a better writer now because of it but I don’t think I’ve ever had a moment where I came to some realisation about myself and life.
It’s been great being friends with you all these years and seeing all your projects and ideas and your amazing generosity with hosting so many people over that time! I’m really glad that in recent years you’ve been able to get more positive about life and optimistic about your future! It’s so great to hear about all the things you’ve been doing and how uni has been going. I hope the same upwards movement continues for the future for you!

I was 16 when I had my first blog and I started with an AOL page. That seems so long ago lol.
My current blog I believe is about 8 years old. That’s scary to think about!
I’ve learned that I am still really shy and awkward on the internet and that I’m forgettable. That’s a little sad but true n’D

Wow congratulations Kya! 10 years is a long time when it comes to blogging and using the same domain name. Seems the pop up and disappear so often. Apparently I first registered my current domain 7 years. I love the items you bought for your giveaway!
1. When did you first start blogging? About 15 years ago. My first purchased domain was in 2001.
2. How old is your current blog? The first post I have in my current blog is March 12, 2013. I seem to have lost all posts from before that.
3. What things have you discovered about yourself, through your blog? I love to write. I enjoy photography. I bought a camera and started taking pictures years ago due to a photo challenge.
4. Have you made any great friends who started as blog buddies? No one that I have met yet. I have one I talk to a lot but that’s it.
Oh man. Socks are my favorite things. And that bag is adorable!
1. I started blogging when I was in high school. I took a business class that taught us how to code a basic website. That was probably in 2001.
2. I would say my current blog would be the same one that I started in high school. It has changed names twice (Deannaland to Fantasy Nerd to Stubborn Ox) but the format hadn’t. That would make it 15 years old.
3. Through blogging I think you learn that many of the things you think you are going through alone, others have been through too. I also learn a lot about life in other countries through blog hopping.
4. I have been friends with sime bloggers for many years. Some disappear after a while and new ones show up. I’ve never met any blogger friends in person though.

1. Hm, I first started blogging back when I was 13… 14? I can’t remember which but it was on Tumblr. 21 now so that was a pretty long time ago.
2. My longest-running blog (I have multiple) is about seven year olf, so not as old as yours but I’m getting there!
3. I’ve discovered a lot of new interests and fandoms, shows and games and books that never would’ve entered my life but are now a big part of it, I learned I loved photography even if I’m far from the best photographer out there, and I learned to accept myself because it was blogging that gave me the courage to come out as pansexual to my family.
4. Yup! The four people I would now consider my best friends have all been met by blogging in some form or another, they’ve shaped to into the person I am, saved me, helped me through a lot of pain as well as shared a lot of good times, even if we haven’t met face to face yet! I don’t know what I’d do without them.
Well, this is just the cutest idea! I’m so excited for you that your domain has been around that long – I know I felt so excited when my first site turned 10 😀 – Here’s to another few years yet for Kya.nu!

1. I started blogging when I was 13. I closed down that blog when I was 19, and then I came back years later on impulse. I randomly checked if my domain got taken, and I was surprised to see it wasn't! So I re-registered little-town.net XD And I thought, "well I guess I should blog again."
2. Current iteration of my blog is 2.5 years old. I owned the domain for another two years before.
3. I learned that I have a lot of fandoms! I enjoy writing about games I play, shows I watch, and so on. That was the main inspiration for our linkup. Turns out it's hard to keep up with all those fandoms though!
4. Yes! I'm very close to a few mutuals through Tumblr and blogging. I'm saving up money to see them all. XD I've met Liv and Kristine, and they're both so lovely. It didn't feel strange at all since I already knew them. <3

I started blogging in 2001. I blogged first by hand, then by Greymatter, and now with WordPress. My current blog has been around since 2002 😀 My blog and I both feel old, haha! I do enjoy blogging because it’s a way to express myself. I also enjoy keeping in touch with fellow bloggers. Even better when I end up meeting them IRL! That’s the best feeling ever ^_^

I started blogging in 2001, however, my current blog is approaching 7 years because I didn't realize the importance of saving an archive when I first started off in 2001. Through my blog I learned that I am stronger than I appear to be and that I can achieve things if I set my mind to it.
And yes, I have made great friends through my old blogs. <3
Oh my goodness… 10 years! Wow!! It must be amazing to be able to go through the past 10 years of your life in one location… I’ve moved around so much that my current blog is only a year or two old, though I’ve been blogging since 2011 or something. I’ve always loved “fresh starts” but I wish I could have kept a compiled data of blog posts somewhere! It would’ve been so interesting to read back to what I was thinking 13 years ago… I actually just met up for the first time in California with 2 of my long time blog friends, one reaching back to middle school and different countries! Amazing what blogs and internet allows us to do! (We were like, YOU’RE A REAL PERSON!!! Not a figment of my imagination!!)

My blog is also 10 years old this year, in August, but due to a couple of issues, a server breach and an accident with a glass of lemonade frying my old laptop (!) I lost the majority of my old blog posts and content.
My website started off as a “doll” site with a small “updates” page and grew into a place where I write about my life, house my recipes etc. It would be nice to go back and read my older posts!

I was using LJ in errr… 2003? Just before that, I think I was writing little updates on my site on Freewebs. Because I liked to keep a physical diary, my blog posts were not frequent. And I moved a lot over the years.
How old is your current blog?
This is where I get stuck, Kya! So I would like to know what you think. I registered georgie.nu a while ago, but my blog has been ‘Hey Georgie’ from 2nd December 2012. I still kept my blog posts from when I started using WordPress and my blog doesn’t feel like it’s changed since I was blogging on Heartdrops.org (I registered that on 5th October 2008, with my first post on 11th October 2008). So what should my blog’s birthday really be? :S I feel like saying it’s in October, but not really. :S :S :S 😛
What things have you discovered about yourself, through your blog?
Through my blog, I’m not really sure. I have written a lot about my daily life and have found that my blog has grown to reflect the changes in my writing. I still mesh my blogging with my web development and I’ve found that blogging has helped me develop my writing, most of all. I consider blogging very near and dear to my heart!
Have you made any great friends who started as blog buddies?
YOU ? And yes, some others. Some who have disappeared from the face of blogging, but came back on Twitter or emailed me, and it was nice to know they remembered me haha. Others I have met in real life, or yet to meet. And it’s exciting. It always gives me faith that the old blogging world is not dead ?

I’m actually not sure when I first started blogging since I don’t have entries from my first blog anymore. I’m actually on my third blog now! Silent White as a blog is 8 years old, but the domain itself is 13 years old. (It was an art site at first.) I’ve definitely made many blog buddies throughout the years! My writing style and what I blog about has also changed so much since the beginning. It’s too bad I don’t have my earlier entries to look at. (Or maybe that’s a good thing because they’re probably super embarrassing, haha.)
Been blogging since I was 14/15 in high school, but on this blog? On this domain, hardly a year 😛 Congrats on those entering the giveaway! ^^

1. I think I started blogging at the same time I learned code.. Which is more or less 12 years ago.
2. My current blog is dead though. Been on a revamp for ages and never actually did anything to it.
3. Since I am terrible at keeping up with my blog, I can’t say I discovered much about myself. I think if anything, it gave me more insecurities about showing who I really am to the world and having people judging me. 🙁

I started blogging in….. 2004-ish. But for the first years I only blogged in Swedish on a separate site and had my English site just to display art and pixels. It wasn’t until 2009 or something I ditched the Swedish and merged everything into one English blog. So in total I guess I’ve blogged for… 12 years or something? owo
It’s interesting having a big archive of posts to look back at, seeing how my life has changed over the years and how my focus has shifted. And how much better my English is now compared to 10 years ago, haha!

My blog has helped me discover who I truly am… all through continuing to write, even if not professionally. And like I said above, it's amazing how much things change in a decade. Heck, even in five years! I go back and read my old blog posts and it helps remind me of who I am and what kind of person I want to be.

Actually I have! A lot of them no longer blog and I don't really have contact information for them now. Others disappeared and then reappeared after YEARS! But I'm fortunate that they remembered me and we could carry on as if no time was lost. xD

It was way back 2009 when I started blogging but through the years, it was really on and off. Due to my busy days that most of the time I forgot about my blog and then return during summer vacations. There I knew, no matter what, I will always go back to blogging no matter how long I go on hiatus.
My current blog is the same blog I created on the 2009 but completely revamped it this month just when I thought I'd like to be back to blogging.
Things I have discovered about myself through my blog? A lot! Whenever I read my previous blog posts, I couldn't help but laugh at myself. Because I'm that girl who blog about my rants, my dramas in life, how childish I was and up until now, I couldn't write professionally. I'm still not good in English language and my topics jump from one thing to the other. But I didn't care– I love to write, so I will write.
Great friends who started as blog buddies? Back when I was still active, yes. Unfortunately, when I went on hiatus, I couldn't tract them anymore. Some blogs are still up but the were updated last 2013.

I just wanted to say I’m so proud of you, Kya, for battling your mental health issues and going to school and evolving as a person who is only getting stronger, kinder, lovelier, and more talented!
You are such an inspiration to me, not just from an artist’s standpoint, but also from a personal standpoint, as you know I have my own mental health struggles which affect my life deeply.
Congrats on ten years! I have never been able to stick to blogging for that long, but I really want to try again. What do you think? Maybe it’s time!

I’ve been blogging on and off for over eight years; however, I’ve been at my current domain for five years. I think that my blog showcases my growth as a person, but also as a writer. Ever since I’ve been blogging, academic writing has become a lot easier for me! Blogging helps me clear my thoughts and I love being able to connect to others that have very different lifestyles than my own. I’ve made so many friends through blogging, and most of them have been there since the beginning!

I started blogging when I was about thirteen, so it’s been ten years now. I’ve only had Mamyology for 7 of those though, but it turns 8 in August. Time passes so quickly!
Thank you for always being around on the Internet. You used to host me years ago, so thank you very much. Without you, teenage me wouldn’t have been able to afford all the fees. When you stopped doing hosting, I was an adult with my own income, and was very excited to be able to go it alone. Doubt my blog would be here today if it wasn’t for you getting me started!
I’ve learned that it’s really difficult to decide what to share and what not to share on the Internet. I’ve learned that it’s important to do what you love, and never be sorry for it (unless what you love is being horrible to people, in which case, no). I’ve also made a lot of friends along the way, which is my main reason for blogging.

1. I first started at 15, I would blog on greatest journal and then livejournal.
2. After GJ and LJ I moved to an actual domain when I turned 18. My current blog is about 8 years old. Wow. I didn’t realize how old it was. XD
3. I don’t give myself enough credit. My blog allows me to see my creativity in different ways. I plan things out. In the pictures I use, to the title of the entry. I just love seeing each finished entry. I edit things a lot too, even though typos might still find their way in them.
4. A few. I keep trying to make more but it’s a bit difficult. They usually fall flat after awhile. But I love finding new bloggers and it doesn’t stop me from trying.

Lets see, I’ve been blogging since early 2004. I joined livejournal back when you still needed a code to join. It started off mostly as being used for posting fanfiction and talking about fanlistings, but slowly became an online extension of me. It’s been really interesting reading back over past entries, watching the peak and trough of my mental health, watching relationships grow and die, seeing the things I always go back to. And I’ve met some of my best friends, current partner, ex-partners through the site. I think LJ will always been my home!
I’ve had a couple of domains but my current one is only like 5 months old. That reminds me, been a while since I logged in and did stuff. I should do that

I started blogging in early 2000s with a blog named “Forever Angel”. It was a cute name. Inked by Erin or Erinnicole.nu was born around 2009 like your blog. I can’t believe it has been that long! Crazy!!

Happy birthday to your blog! 😀 And answering your questions, I started blogging since I was like 14/15 years old, so I’ve been in the blogosphere for more than 10 years but with different blogs. My newest blog is very new, it only has 2 months or so since it became a special one of my live in Japan.
When did you first start blogging?
I started blogging in 2005 through Multiply. It was an on and off thing since my country wasn’t that big on the internet thing yet and uploading a blog post would cost me an hour. Pretty pricey at that time since we didn’t have internet at my dorm, lol.
How old is your current blog?
My current blog is 7 yrs old. I’ve only started to work on ‘real’ content for the past year or so. The rest of the years were purely emotional and dearly personal posts.
What things have you discovered about yourself, through your blog?
I discovered that I write best with photos! Haha When I don’t have photos to make a story with, I end up being too dramatic.
Have you made any great friends who started as blog buddies?
I have! Online friends turned to Twitter-IG and eventually real-life friends! The blogsphere is full of amazing people! 🙂

I first started blogging when I had just turned 13. That was in 2006. However, this current blog of mine has currently been up for roughly a year and 3 months.
