It seems like this year is flying by. One minute it was January, and now it’s September already, before we know it, Christmas! In August 2017 I continued to study Interactive Design for Web, and received test results from the doctor.
π₯οΈΒ Interactive Design For Web
I am heading into week 8 of Interactive Design for Web and the past month has involved a lot of coding in HTML and CSS. I completed my first assessment (and website prototype), and I am looking forward to the results to see if I am on track or where I can improve.
It has been a fascinating experience learning about website design again. I have found a renewal of the past feelings and joy I had in creating designs. I intend to create some experiment layouts soon and see where it leads (maybe back into WordPress themes when I feel more confident haha). π
π¨ββοΈΒ Doctor Results
I went back to the doctor and received some blood test results. It looks like I have a problem with my thyroid which is underactive. I had some more tests done and have to return to see if I need medication or treatment.
An underactive thyroid can cause low motivation, feeling tired, depressed and weight gain. I have all of these symptoms but thought it was related to mental health and PCOS. It will be good to review the next results and see what happens next. I am feeling optimistic that through treatment (or medication) I might be able to see positive effects.
βοΈΒ Other Things
- Didn’t renew my learner license, but intend to do it next week (for reals). =)
- Received an award for academic achievement (or top 5 students) in Packaging design (which was a shock because I thought my score wasn’t that good).
- Snapped a few pictures
- Watched Game of Thrones. Dude. Wow. πΆ
π¬Β Questions
- What did you do in August 2017?
- Have any plans for September?
- How is your health?

It’s amazing how fast time has flown by! I can’t believe it’s September, too.
I am happy that this new class of yours has brought back joy to you with web design! That’d be awesome to create and share your own WordPress themes π
Hope you will find a treatment plan that will work for you. All those symptoms sound unpleasant, so it’d be good to bring you back to feeling healthy.
Congratulations on the award for academic achievement! Your hard-working is definitely paying off!
Congrats on the award! Maybe the teacher is a very hard marker?
In August I… got my first ever filling and discussed getting my wisdom teeth out. I also had my birthday and got stuffed on churros and cake π
I don’t have too many plans for September although I am starting a new position at work so that will be interesting.
My health is ok, I did get some blood tests last week as a check up and will find out if I’m still going ok tomorrow π
Some of your experience with coding websites sure came handy for your interactive design class! I’m sorry to hear about problems with your thyroid. Hope there will be some good results coming out of the recent bloodwork. Congratulations on earning an academic achievement award! Your hard work is paying off!
This year really has flown by, hasn’t it? Amazing!
Congratulations on receiving an award. Way to go!
I have been tested for my thyroid more times than I can count and every single time it comes back negative. They simply don’t know what’s wrong with me. :’|
August was a trying month. My boys were home by themselves while I worked (13 and 8) and it was hard for us. Thankfully this month went by quickly and now they start school on Tuesday! We did it! We made it through!
I’m glad you had a good August and not a lot to report. Sometimes less is good. Keep up your web design endeavors, so far I really like how things are done here. This blog post was very appealing to the eyes and easy to read. Sometimes I forget that’s why no one reads my blogs – paragraph after paragraph of writing about my day isn’t as appealing as doing little chunks of information. Ahh well, I’ll learn some day. :’D
I’ve been wanting to take coding classes recently! With the world leaping into the tech age like it is, I think it’s an incredibly useful skill to have (especially as a blogger!).
September is kicking off the beginning of a new workout plan, and I’m SO excited to be diving in. Yoga, running, and weights was just getting SO old and my body wasn’t responding because it was bored!
Congrats on the award!
I really should try to get more into web design again…someday!
Sorry to hear about your issues with your thyroid! I have issues with that too, except mine was overactive at one point I believe. Though it hasn’t been since that time luckily. Hope you’re able to get some medicine that will help!
Packaging design – sounds interesting. Hope you get everything settled with your thyroid, I know quite a few girls who have problems with it. Too bad GoT is over for now π I watched it too.
September is going to be a busy month with work plus I have to travel. I’m looking forward to October!
Many greetings
I’m glad the Interactive Design class has been a good experience! Seems like it’d be a great class to apply back to your own personal websites. I’d love to see any experimental layouts you make!
I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) about 15 years ago, and I’ve been on medication ever since. I had the same issues with feeling tired and weight gain while they were figuring it out. It took some tweaking until I was on the right medicine dosage, but since then, I’ve been stable and feeling fine. I hope you’ll get some good results soon and that they figure out what’s right for you!
Congrats on the academic achievement too!
Congrats on your award!! That’s awesome! π
August flew by for me. I’ve been so busy, I feel like August just started, but suddenly it’s September D: I’m hoping September is slower so I can enjoy the seasons shifting. America is going into Autumn, which is my favourite season π
My best friend is getting married next month, so I’m spending a lot of September doing Maid Of Honour duties to keep her sane, and making sure her bridal shower and bachelorette party go off without a hitch π
My health is pretty good overall right now! My strained bicep from early July is finally (mostly) healed, so I can put weight on it again when I exercise. I just have to take things slow. Telling me to skip arm day is a dream come true, though π
It’s so hard to believe this year is almost over. I feel as if I haven’t even done half of the things I wanted to do. I have a lot of doctor appoints in September. Similar issues to what you mentioned. I think it’s so cool that you study design. I’ve always wanted to learn more than what I’ve been able to teach myself. Congrats on the award, your designs look great!
I’ve been reading into Flexbox for interactive designs. It’s so fascinating how much there is out there for stuff like that. I’m looking forward to any experimental layouts you make!
Sorry to hear about your doctor results :c but hopefully now that they know what it is, they can figure out how to tweak it so that you’re feeling better.
Congrats on the award! That’s so awesome.
Thyroid problems aren’t something nice to deal with and they can cause problems if they aren’t taken care of and they’re important. I am glad that your doctors caught it! You might have to be on medication for her as it rarely can correct itself but regardless, the year has passed so quickly! It was Jan one moment and now it’s September!
So true that the year is going by super fast. I can’t believe it’s already September! I hope you hear some positive news from the doctor! Also congrats on your achievement for your packaging class.
I don’t watch Game of Thrones but my sister is an avid fan. The show sounds really intense!
I cannot believe how quickly this year flew by. It’s shocking! owo
I was born without a thyroid gland, so I experience every single one of those symptoms on a daily basis. Having an under active thyroid can be rough, I won’t lie. >w< Hopefully, your treatments are successful. My medications have been fluctuating for awhile now. :'|
On top, I have Endometriosis. Getting a hysterectomy on October 24th. D:
It’s crazy omg. Every time I do monthly posts I’m like wow the year is flying, wow the month is flying WOW MY LIFE. It’s crazy but it’s awesome how we can look back and log our achievements.
I’m so glad that you got to try out some HTML/CSS in class, that’s incredible. I remember getting back into the HTML/CSS/web dev grind again and loving the immediate results π
Have an awesome September Kya!
Glad you’re enjoying your classes. It’s great that it’s renewed your passion for web design.
Sorry to hear about your health problems. My mum has a thyroid problem (can’t remember whether hers is over or under) and she takes medication every day for it. It doesn’t really bother her now, so hopefully yours is just as manageable. Good luck with it!
And Game of Thrones is amazing. I started it last year and ended up catching up within a month!
Interactive design for web sounds like an exciting thing to study. Making WordPress themes is something I’d love to do, but I absolutely can’t! I hope the rest of your studies continue to be as exciting!
Congratulations on your award! I really liked your packaging designs, I’m glad other people did too! I’m sorry to hear about your thyroid, but I’m glad you have a diagnosis. Fingers crossed it’s the first step to good treatment for you!
I’m so glad you’re finally getting answers. I personally find the “limbo period” to be the worst, because I don’t know what to expect, and I don’t have the “closure” emotionally of knowing what I need to do to cope properly. I’m the type of person to always need a game plan!!!
Congratulations on your award! It seems so cool to be learning so much about a topic you love… I’m doing online courses on WordPress Themes now… But it’s like chiseling away at a 10 year wall where I kind of shied away from web design/development stuff because things got too confusing. XD I’m hoping to join the ranks of you after a while, though!!
By the way, stable, constant blogger friends like you are one of the biggest reasons why I was able to return to blogging… Thanks for plugging along for years and years and giving me a blogisphere to come back to! π
Hypothyroidism is something that is relatively easy to combat! I hope you get back up because life is beautiful and so are you!
Take care <3
I’ve always been comfortable with HTML/CSS despite not doing it for years. Graphic design, however, is a different story, heh.
I don’t have much planned for this month. I’m just hoping to finish one book before the year ends. Sad, I know.
Congrats on your award, and I hope you feel better soon. π
I miss coding! I feel like I am already behind the new web design trends π
Congrats on your academic award! Keep it up! π And take care of your health as well!
OMG, packaging design! It brings me back to my old college/uni days again during my “Introduction to Adobe Illustrator” class then. Our final project for the calss was exactly that – packaging design. I designed an iced tea beverage bottle and had a pretty good score. I remember the typography and such looked lazy, but I had the extra points because I drew an original mascot character on it. Since then my computer crashed and failed to retrieve all of my old files, so I don’t have the original designs for my “fake beverage bottle” anymore. Nevertheless, congrats on that academic award!
I’m currently doing refresher courses again, so eventually, I’ll be studying HTML5/CSS3 (I self-learned all of that myself. They didn’t exist during my college/uni days and got used to XHTML/CSS2 haha!) all over again. Right now, I’m studying basic UI/UX fundamentals. I never thought that the process could be this hard, in comparison to how we used to years ago in uni haha.
It seems that when we get older, ailments begin to invade. Thyroid problems, stress, depression, cancer, diabetes, everything. Well, that’s life for us. Here’s hoping your diagnosis is mild enough to have simple medications. Maybe.
Eeep, thyroid problems can be a hassle! I used to have those too (as a side-effect of one of my meds) but I had the opposite problem: my thyroid was hyperactive. Haha. I hope yours is mild enough to be managed through meds π
I miss coding so I’m really jealous that you’re taking this Interactive Design Class :'( Lol I’ve been out of the loop for so long; actually, I got intimated when I started using WordPress, and then I never got back to coding. Hahaha good luck on your class! π
Oooh and congrats on getting an award on Packaging Design! <3
It’s the -ber month already. Time sure does fly fast.
I am never good at coding but I think it’s a great skill to learn hand-in-hand with blogging. On the side note, I am really curious about Game of Thrones. I have never watched and it’s really popular. I know I’ll get hooked once I start it.
