2017

2017

5 years

Another year has come to an end, and as we welcome 2018, I wanted to reflect on my year that was 2017. 🎆

2017 was a year of change and growth. I discovered things about myself, found strength and the courage to make positive choices.

I consider 2017 as a year of positive personal changes. I began to contemplate what was the most important to me and became more accepting of myself. I learnt that there will be good days, filled with creativity and joy and bad days that are sleepy and low. I am lucky to have a fantastic support system from family and close friends who remind me of the crucial details and inspire me to focus on what I love. 💖

The significant events that happened in 2017 were in the latter part of the year. Changing my university degree to Graphic Design/Photography was a huge positive. I also found the confidence to update my blog and use my real name. Aside from those I also worked hard on my previous Uni subjects, receiving HDs and maintaining a 4.0 GPA (Something that is a big deal, because I struggled in High School to pass classes!).

👑 2017 Highlights

⭐ 2017 Goals

  1. 🍎 Continue to stay healthy and lose more weight
I made some progress on this goal, but I certainly have to keep at it. I did buy a Fitbit Ionic that inspired me to focus on healthier choices and exercise more.
  2. 🚗 Drive more often (and possibly have a few lessons)
I found it very hard to find the confidence to drive, but I did get back into it. I didn’t have lessons, but something I sincerely intend to do in 2018!
  3. 👩🏻‍💻 Study hard and get good grades (HDs please)
    YES!
  4. 🚬 Quit smoking for real!
No. 🙁 I am not there yet.
  5. 💙 Feel positive about myself
I have made progress and began to understand and accept myself more. I have to continue to work on it.
  6. 💻 Try and blog every week
I didn’t blog every week but was semi-consistent (except in May haha, oops).
  7. 🏆 Enter creative competitions
I didn’t enter very many, in fact, I can only remember one (where I finished 43rd 😂).
  8. 📖 Write a third children’s book
I haven’t finished my third book, but I am getting close! Hopefully, it will be complete before February 2018!

  1. Happy New Year to you, Kassy! Seeing your 2017 in review made me smile since I remember a good chunk of them. I think you made the right choice to changing your degree to something that’s more fitting! I wish you the best with that in 2018. You got this, girl! And as for your other goals, I wish you luck with all those!

  2. I like that you added your 2017 highlights along with your goal progressions, it helps keep things positive. I find that if I only look at how effective I was in achieving my goals and nothing else, I can be discouraged because oftentimes the new year’s resolutions are the things I struggle the hardest with and will take the longest to achieve. Adding in those highlights, things that were good but not necessarily what you set out to do, helps one feel more accomplished! And you should be proud, you did a lot of good in 2017 and I’m glad you’re getting to a place where you feel more comfortable sharing yourself online.

Any idea on what tattoo you want to get?

My 2017 was mostly okay. There were the good days and the bad, like always. The best thing that happened for me of course was getting married. For not being anything like I originally planned, I had an absolute blast and feel incredibly lucky I found a partner in life who loves and supports me like he does! And my 2018 achievements? Honestly, I don’t know yet. In many ways I could just repeat my resolutions from all my previous years but I don’t want to do that. I’m thinking about monthly concrete goals, but we’ll see. I have some alone time tomorrow so I’m going to sit down and sort it out then.

Anyways, sorry for the long ramble. Happy 2018! 🙂

  3. Glad to hear that 2017 was a great year for you. Hope 2018 will be another year of growth, positivity, and new experiences. Congratulations on maintaining a 4.0 GPA! I am totally digging how you’ve been working on getting your higher education completed. Good luck with your goals for this year! I love how you have an emoji for everything XD.

  4. Welcome to the 30 club! I’m already 32 but still it’s still a different feeling when you actually turn 30. Well it’s weird. It feels different but doesn’t LOL.

I want a new tattoo too!! What were you thinking of doing? I’m still trying to plan mine out. I have made sketches and know the basis but it’s still so hard to commit to one particular one!!

    To answer your questions:
    1.How was your 2017?
My 2017 was interesting. Not to go into in details but it was a difficult and stressful one but I try to stay on the positive moving into 2018.

2.What was the best thing that happened?
The best was being able to go back to work and enjoy my time as a working mom. I have developed great new relationships and became good friends with my coworkers! And also the best best best part was going on a bunch of trips with my husband and my son. I have now really really incredible memories that I will never forget and hopefully it will become annual trips!!

3.What do you hope to achieve in 2018?
I hope to discover myself some more. Get to exercising and actually achieving my goal of doing some real yoga and sticking with it. Also maybe go back to school and possibly start on a new career.

  5. Happy New Year, Kassy! I love your first goal: “focus on me.” That is one of the most important, yet one of the hardest things to do. I’m glad you had a great 2017, and I wish you luck and success in 2018!

  6. It looks like you had a really awesome year, and I think that’s great! I love the feeling of accomplishment when you can reach those little goals with success, even if there was one or two things you didn’t quite get. I wish you all the luck for 2018 and hope you continue to have a positively joyful and happy new year! <3

  7. Congrats on all your accomplishments – especially on maintaining that 4.0 GPA! That’s incredibly awesome. You’ve accomplished so much in just a year and even though you didn’t hit all your goals, it seems like you still made some pretty great strides.

Good luck on your 2018 goals!

  8. Happy new year!! I really wish I could do the same kind of training as you are doing. What fun! But I’m too old to go to school again other than shorter workshops or courses. Anyway – I’m glad you are doing so much fun stuff, although you didn’t quit smoking yet (oncology nurse speaking).
2017 was a quite tough year for me but I did a lot of good things too. I finally built a photography website/blog that I’m happy with. We did some nice travels, including a whisky trip to Islay, Scotland, which is something we’ve wanted for years. For 2018 I hope to get going with a project that will be step 1 towards going back to live in Ireland.

  9. Hey Kassy, Happy New Year! 🙂 I’m glad that 2017 for you was filled with growth. I think that’s most important in every year we get to experience.
I like your taking a selfie and learning how to drive goals!! I resonate with those both the most hehe good luck to us! 😀

    How was your 2017?
The first part was quite challenging for me, since it was my first time to find a job. But once I did get a job at the middle of the year, everything else just fell into place from there. I’m really thankful for all the experiences though!

What was the best thing that happened?
Getting hired at the company I really liked. I met great people, and I admire the company culture, and I see myself working there for long term 🙂

What do you hope to achieve in 2018?
    I hope to travel more!

I look forward to reading more of your adventures too this year! 😀

  10. You did a lot last year, and I’m glad that it was a year of positive changes for you! That’s really great that you changed your degree to one you felt suited you better, and you did so well in school. I think you made a lot of good progress in your 2017 goals too. Good luck on your 2018 goals! I hope this will be another positive year for you!
